This mission is simple -encourage, inspire, and resource families caring for children with special needs. One out of six families are impacted by disability. A Special Purpose helps fill gaps in the community for this underserved population.
We are intentional about creating opportunities for families to thrive in community. A Special Purpose supports each family member uniquely through trainings, respite, and events.
Caregiver Respite is a dedicated time to rest and recharge from the high demands of caring for a child with special needs
A Special Purpose hosts events each year that are accessible and sensory friendly to families caring for children with special needs of all ages.
Therapeutic Horseback Riding Camp is filled with smiles, friendship, and fun. This specialized day of animals, music, art, and games builds confidence and connection among volunteers and campers.
Community partners make meaningful events possible like all abilities ice skating. The Tulsa Oilers and WeStreet Ice Center partner with A Special Purpose to ensure everyone in our community has the confidence and support to ice skate.
A Special Purpose presents sessions focusing on all abilities inclusion and accessibility in churches and other community spaces throughout the year. Each year A Special Purpose presents sessions at Children’s Ministry Expo in Bixby, Oklahoma.

February 2026, Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce names A Special Purpose Nonprofit of the year!
What a honor to have the important work we do highlighted among the Broken Arrow community.
In 2026 A Special Purpose attended Asset Giving University in Kansas City along with fellow nonprofit colleagues from around the country.
Through this training our staff learned strategies to help givers lower their tax burden by donating assets such as cryptocurrency, stocks, property, and more to charitable causes. Reach out to Shallena@aspecialpurpose.org to learn how to maximize your donation through asset giving.
